TOPIC: THE NECESSITY OF SOUL WINNING.
SCRIPTURE: And go, get thee to them of the captivity, unto the children of thy people, and speak unto them, and tell them, Thus saith the Lord God; whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear. Ezekiel 3:11
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Jesus suffered for the salvation of the lost, and we bring satisfaction to His labour by winning lost souls.
Soul-winning is such a heartbeat of God that He sent His son for the salvation of souls. This can be confirmed in John 3:16. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Also, it was out of this passion for souls that He sent the Holy Spirit as was revealed in Acts 1:8: But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
The aim of the Holy Spirit is not only to enable us to pray in tongues or impress people that we can pray in tongues; the aim is that …Ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem in all Judea and in Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
The Holy Spirit empowers us to be effective witnesses unto the salvation of men, territories and nations.
A major proof of true spirituality is passion for souls, and this is evident in Jesus’ charge to Peter in John 21:15:
So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.
The closer you get to God, the easier it is to discern and acquire His Passion. Getting close to God fills our hearts with His Heartbeat.
Now, why do we need to win souls? What is the necessity of soul-winning?
- The salvation of the souls of men is God’s pre-eminent priority (2 Peter 3:9). God can only be interested in what interests us if we are interested in what interests Him.

The salvation of souls is the reward for the Master’s travails.
Jesus suffered for the salvation of the lost, and we bring satisfaction to His labour by winning lost souls.
Isaiah 53:11 says, He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
This implies that Jesus Christ looks forward to seeing that the reason for His suffering is fully fulfilled. So, whenever you reach out to win souls, you are telling Jesus that it was not in vain that He was stripped and beaten; the spittle on His face was not in vain, and ultimately, that He wasn’t crucified in vain. You are saying, “Master, I am one of those who will ensure that you did not bleed for nothing.”
- The salvation of souls is the rescue of multitudes from the torment of hellfire.
Psalms 9:17 says, The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.
Beloved, heaven is real, and hell is also real. And hell is a place of unimaginable torment. It was not prepared for man at all, but for the devil and his fallen angels. Man was not wired to handle hell because it was prepared for satan.
When you are committed to soul-winning, you are on a mission for the rescue of mankind’s lost souls.
REMEMBER THIS: Jesus suffered for the salvation of the lost, and we bring satisfaction to His labour by winning lost souls.
ASSIGNMENT(S):
1. Never allow Jesus’ suffering to be in vain; deploy yourself to soul winning.
2. Ensure that Christ did not bleed for nothing; talk to someone about Jesus today.
PRAYER: Father, baptise me with unquenchable zeal for soul winning. May my life be a valuable instrument in Your Hands for the rescue of the lost, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
