TOPIC: THE INGREDIENT OF TRUE PRAISE AND WORSHIP.
SCRIPTURE: Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. PSALM 100:4.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Praise that must carry weight and produce answers must carry the element of gratitude.
It has been confirmed that praise/worship is not just about singing and dancing. There are ingredients or components that cause praise to weigh heavily in the spirit.
And we need our praise to carry weight in the realm of the spirit because praise holds the answer to many things. Praise is the answer to the night season of life; the nighttime of life is handled by praise. The forces of darkness and their chain of captivity are conquered by praise.
In Acts 16:25, when Paul and Silas prayed at midnight, we did not hear that anything happened until they combined the prayer with praises unto God. Prayer is powerful, but when combined with praise, it becomes explosive.
Now, what are the ingredients of true praise and worship? What are the things that make praise weighty and effective. We shall be looking at some of the ingredients of effective praise and worship.
- Gratitude (Thankfulness). Praise that must carry weight and produce answers must carry the element of gratitude and thankfulness. That is why Psalm 100:4 says, Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. When your heart is thankful, your mouth will be praiseful. Thanksgiving makes praise flow effortlessly. Don’t complain, praise!

Understanding. Psalm 47:7 says, for God is the king of all the earth: Sing ye praises with understanding. This implies praising with light and revelation from the Word (Psalm 56:4). Understanding equals light and revelation.

Humility/submission. This involves knowing that without God you are nothing (Psalm 95:6). Real worship flows from the heart of humility. Pride is an enemy of praise. Humble people play before God like David (2Samuel 6:14-22). Arrogant people cannot do it. There are people who have never knelt or prostrate before God.
Beloved, we have come to the end of the year 2025. It is vital to take stock of all that God has done for you from the beginning of the year till now and give Him the praise. It will set the pace for more; it will cause God to roll out more of His goodness for you in 2026.
Remember this: Praise that must carry weight and produce answers must carry the element of gratitude.

1. Go through the ingredients of effective praise and worship outlined in today’s study.
2. Engage in some minutes of explosive praise today. Endeavour to be at the Cross Over Service tonight and thank God for taking you through 2025.
3. Ask God for the grace to maintain a humble heart.
PRAYER: Lord, thank You for Your help and mercy throughout the year 2025. Help me to worship and praise You with gratitude, understanding and humble spirit, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
