THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Living Beyond Yourself
Our main scripture reveals that there is a process, a structure, that leads a person to the realm of wealth. And there is an attitude that leads to poverty.
There is a way of life that leads to poverty. And today we will analyze one of them in order to avoid it. It is called a survival mindset.
A survival mindset is a self-indulgent lifestyle where one simply lives to survive without any intention of making a difference in the lives of others or in the kingdom of God. It is a consumerist lifestyle.
Most of the time, you hear people say, “I want a house. I want to buy a car. I need a job. I want to be able to send my children to school. I want to be able to travel abroad and come back whenever I want.” That kind of mindset will never lead anyone to the realm of authority and financial mastery.
Beloved, don’t try to find water in a basin. Not even in a bathtub; seek the water that is like an ocean. Seek something beyond yourself. Don’t let your life revolve around what you consume. Self-gratification and immediate family satisfaction will keep you in survival mode. Live beyond yourself. Think of a generation. Think of being a blessing to your world. Then there will be no limits to what God can do with your life. When God Himself knows that there are widows, orphans, and countless others who depend on you, your resources will multiply.
Proverbs 23:7 says, “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he…” If you only think about what to eat, what to drink, and what to drive, that’s where your life will stay. life. That’s why you need to expand your mindset. God wants to bless you and make you a blessing (Genesis 12:2-3). He doesn’t just want you to survive. He doesn’t want you to barely exist. He doesn’t want you to be a dam; He wants you to be a flowing river.
That’s what He did in Job’s life. Job 29:11-12 says, “When the ear heard me, it blessed me; and the eye saw me, it bore witness to me, because I rescued the poor who cried out, the fatherless, and those who had no one to help them.”
Beloved, here is my advice: First, detail what you will do with the money for your extended family, the community, widows, orphans, etc.; make it clear how you want to change people’s lives, what you want to establish to create jobs when God blesses you with billions. Leave the survival mindset behind.
Second, make sure you are very energetic in life. Inactivity will frustrate financial control. And third Instead, avoid waste at all costs.
Remember this: Live beyond yourself.
