TOPIC: DWELLING IN THE SECRET PLACE
SCRIPTURE: He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. PSALM 91:1.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The Presence of God is a secret behind the preservation of life.
In a world where many people are in search of refuge because of imminent dangers and threats to life, it is vital to know that there is a Divine provision for shelter and safety for every child of God.
Today, we shall be looking at one of the divine provisions that guarantee our preservation on earth, and that is Dwelling in the secret place of the Most-High.
The secret place of the Most-High, which is the Presence of God, is a secret behind the preservation of life. To dwell in the secret place of the Most-High means to maintain intimacy with God. The way of intimacy with God is the way of security of life. When you maintain the feelable, palpable, and tangible Presence of God, you enjoy divine preservation.
Psalm 23:4 says: Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me. With God’s Presence, there is no reason to fear.
Elijah understood this reality. In 1Kings 17:1, he declared boldly: Before God whom I stand. He defined his position, his address, and his stand. He seemed to have said, If you are looking for me, you can only find me in the Presence of God.
Elijah was not a visitor in the Presence of God; he was a permanent dweller in the secret place of the Most-High. His results were extraordinary. In 1Kings Chapter 18, Obadiah confessed that there was no kingdom or nation where Ahab had not sent men to look for Elijah. Yet, Elijah was beyond their reach because the Spirit of the Lord could carry him anywhere at any time. The Presence of God became his medium of supernatural transportation. This is what Jesus explains in John 3:8: The wind bloweth where it listeth… so is everyone that is born of the Spirit.
A humbling testimony by one of our sisters in church corroborates this truth. She was kidnapped and taken to a thick bush. As she sat there in that jungle, she began to sing one of the songs I was privileged to receive from God, titled, You are always there to help…. With her head bowed, she continued in worship. When she raised her head again, she discovered she was no longer in the bush but at a military checkpoint on the expressway. Just like the wind, the Spirit brought her out into safety.
Beloved, to dwell in the secret place of the Most-High is to suspend natural protocols and live under supernatural realities. So, do all it takes to dwell in the secret place of the Most-High, and your safety and preservation in life will be guaranteed.
Remember This: The Presence of God is a major secret behind the preservation of life.
ASSIGNMENTS
1. Determine to make the Presence of God your permanent dwelling place, not an occasional visit.
2. Cultivate intimacy through prayer, worship, and the Word.
3. Depend on God’s Presence for preservation and direction in life.
PRAYER: Lord, draw me closer to You every moment of my life. Help me to dwell continually in Your Secret Place, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
