*TOPIC: CONSEQUENCES OF EVIL MONEY.*
SCRIPTURE: Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by wrong; that useth his neighbour’s service without wages, and giveth him not for his work;
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Every time you touch what God did not give you, you lose what belongs to you in God.
We live in a generation where people can do anything for money. Some people risk their lives and those of others in armed robbery just for money. Some people trade with human body parts for money; some women engage in prostitution for money. Money is important for many things, but it is dangerous to chase money to the detriment of our souls.
In our previous study, we saw that money from wrong or evil means destroys rather than profits us. And money whose sources are not tidy is regarded as evil money. Evil money involves the proceeds of iniquity or iniquitous products.
Today, we will take it a step further by examining the consequences of evil money.
The Scripture makes it clear that the love of money is the root of all evil.
This study aims to bring understanding to matters of money, especially where many people are trapped by the devil and doomed for eternity. When people act without understanding the consequences of their actions, the outcome is often regretful.
Now, what are the consequences or tragedies of evil money?
- Evil Money Aborts People’s inheritance in God.
Every time you touch what God did not give you, you lose what belongs to you in God.
Adam ate the fruit God did not give him and lost an entire garden (Genesis 3:1 to the end). -
Evil Money Invites Sorrow.
Evil money inevitably invites sorrow. As 1Timothy 6:10 warns, “For the love of money is the root of all evil, which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” Such money brings all manners of calamity upon its possessor.
Consider Gehazi’s tragic example: He pursued money that God did not give him, and as a result, Naaman’s leprosy came upon him and his entire lineage. -
Evil Money Invites Tragedy and Sudden Death. Remember Achan.
Beloved, one of the things that evil money can do is kill people before their time. Proverbs 1:18-19 says, And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives. So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.
Remember this: Every time you touch what God did not give you, you lose what belongs to you in God.
ASSIGNMENT(S):
1. Anything God did not give you; you don’t need it. Shun greed and covetousness!
2. Genuinely repent and ask God for forgiveness in case you have made any money through crooked means.
PRAYER: Father, deliver me from every spirit of greed. Help me to be content with all You have given me, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
