MESSAGE TOPIC: VICTORY THROUGH PRAISE By: Dr Paul Enenche
SCRIPTURE: This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good. 2 TIMOTHY 3:1-3.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The world needs your sweet and loving personality, and not what bitterness wants to turn you into.
It has been established in one of our previous studies that people easily keep the law when they are driven by love and break it when they are not driven by love in their actions.
In our study today, we shall take it a step further by looking at the necessity of love in a loveless world.
There is an epidemic of lovelessness in our generation, and it is characterized by what I call a “hate revolution.” What is most concerning is what I call “reactive bitterness.” This is when people hate a person until the person starts to react with bitterness.
They will talk about the person, slander him, and conspire against him until he becomes a negative version of himself. Maybe the person was once a loving person, always smiling and friendly with everyone, but somewhere along the line, his face became stern, and he lost his sweetness to bitterness.
Bitterness is the opposite of sweetness, and it can change a person into another person. We need to guard against the spirit of bitterness, because the devil’s agenda is to take people to hell through hatred. The devil may not cause you to lie, cheat, commit immorality, or kill, but he can cause you to hate. Hatred looks harmless, but it is the same hatred that leads to crimes like murder, violence, etc.
Some people will do terrible things against you that can leave you wondering if the devil himself could do the same thing. Some people appear more wicked than Satan. But beloved, please don’t lose your nature. Don’t lose how God created you. Don’t lose the sweetness of your personality and the purity and sincerity of your person. Be on your guard, but don’t lose your sweetness.
The world needs your sweet and loving personality, and not what bitterness wants to turn you into.
Now, why must we love in a loveless world? We must love in a loveless world:
1. To live in the Nature and Character of our Creator who made us in His Image. In Genesis 1:26, God says, “Let’s make man in our Image…” And in 1John 4:8, we learn that the Image of God is the Image of love because God is love. Therefore, we must walk in the Nature and Image of our Creator who made us in His Image.
2. To walk in agreement and fellowship with our Creator (Amos 3:3). When we are out of love, we are out of agreement and alignment with God.
3. To avoid the tragedy of eternal damnation, 1 John 3:14-15. If we don’t love, we abide in death, and hatred leads to eternal hell.
Beloved, we must make a conscious decision not to fall victim to reactive bitterness and hatred.
REMEMBER THIS: The world needs your sweet and loving personality, and not what bitterness wants to turn you into.
ASSIGNMENT(S):
1. Refuse to be denatured by bitterness.
2. Determine to walk and live in the Image of your Creator, which is the Image of love.
PRAYER: Father, help me to always abide in love. Give me the grace to exude Your Nature of love every day of my life, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
