TOPIC:
THE NECESSITY OF SPIRITUAL FERVENCY.
SCRIPTURE: Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord. ROMANS 12:11.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Activity without fire leads to exhaustion, but fervency fuels endurance and effectiveness.
Our anchor scripture reveals a principle that undergirds a buoyant Christian life. In our Christian journey, the need for spiritual fervency cannot be overemphasized.
The truth is that life’s outcome is dependent on life’s input. Your conscious effort to maintain spiritual fervency determines how you fare in life as a child of God. And maintaining spiritual fervency is a proven pathway to fulfilling destiny.
Throughout Scripture and Christian history, men and women who fulfilled God’s purpose for their lives and generation were those who remained spiritually alive, passionate, and deeply connected to God. On the other hand, spiritual lukewarmness quietly destroys destiny, weakens spiritual authority, and reduces a believer’s effectiveness in life.
People do not fail suddenly in the journey of faith; they fade gradually as spiritual fire dies out. When prayer becomes irregular, devotion becomes mechanical, intimacy with God is replaced with routines and spiritual strength begins to leak away unnoticed. A believer may still appear active, yet inwardly he is losing grip on victory.
God expects diligence in daily responsibilities, but He also demands spiritual fervency. Being physically busy is not a substitute for being spiritually fervent. Activity without fire leads to exhaustion, but fervency fuels endurance and effectiveness.
Beloved, to fulfill your purpose on earth, you must dwell continually in the secret place of the Most High. Destiny fulfillment is not sustained by occasional encounters with God but by a consistent, intimate walk with Him. The secret place is where strength is renewed, clarity is restored, and spiritual fire is rekindled.
Smith Wigglesworth once said, ‘You must always live ready.’ Many things would come to confront and reduce your spiritual fire. Life is a battleground; it is not a playground. Whether you feel like fighting or not, battles will confront you. Challenges will come unannounced. Temptations will arise suddenly. In such moments, spiritual readiness and alertness become the difference between victory and defeat. You cannot borrow fire in the hour of battle. You fight with the strength you have already built in the secret place.
Beloved, maintain spiritual fervency by keeping the fire on your prayer altar burning. Prayer is the primary channel through which spiritual fervency is sustained. When prayer life weakens, fervency fades. When prayer is restored, fire returns. Also, let your mind be saturated with God’s Word and let your atmosphere be overwhelmed by deep worship.
Remember this: Activity without fire leads to exhaustion, but fervency fuels endurance and effectiveness.
