TOPIC: REIGNING BY AWARENESS.
SCRIPTURE: And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, LUKE 15:17-18.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: You cannot have the mentality of a king and have the atmosphere of a slave.
It has been proven that God’s people are destroyed not by the strength or powerfulness of the devil, but by the lack of awareness or knowledge. Hosea 4:6 confirms this: My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee…
Psalms 82:5 also corroborates it, They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.
So, every time life is out of control, one of the reasons is the lack of knowledge or awareness. Progressing further, Verse 6-7 of Psalms 82 says, I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes. You see, lack of awareness facilitates destruction.
Mental renovation is a lifetime assignment. If life must be upgraded, the mind must be renewed.
Life issues forth from the mind. That is why Proverbs 23:7 says, As a man thinketh in his heart so is he. Anything that does not cross your mind can never cross your life. Even if a breakthrough crosses your life, and your mind is too small to handle it, you cannot retain that breakthrough.
We see the story of the prodigal son in Luke Chapter Fifteen as captured by our anchor scripture. The prodigal son joined himself to pigs, eating with them. Then a time came when he came to himself and began to ask, “What am I doing here when I have a wealthy father? Even my father’s hired servants are doing well.” (Luke 15:15-18 Paraphrased).
Beloved, losing the consciousness of who we are in God is a major cause of suffering. When the sense of awareness of who you are in God is lost, the struggle continues. Not knowing who you are or what belongs to you affects the quality of your life negatively. Your mindset affects your welfare. The kind of things that sit on your mind affect how you fare in life. For example, the moment the prodigal son changed his mentality, he changed his locality, returned to where he belonged and everything changed.
Note this: every time there is an engagement of sense, there is a change of season.
Now, what would awareness do for a person? Awareness affects atmosphere. When you come into the presence of the king, there is something in the atmosphere that smells royalty. You cannot have the mentality of a king and have the atmosphere of a slave.
Beloved, the economy of your nation or your family background is not your problem. The problem is not knowing who you are. That is what affects everything about you. The truth of the matter is that the picture of your mind affects the reality of your life.
Remember this: You cannot have the mentality of a king and have the atmosphere of a slave.
ASSIGNMENT(S):
1. Consciously maintain the mindset of a king; refuse to behave like a slave.
- Spent time with God at the place of worship, prayer and study of the word to reawaken and maintain the awareness of who you are.
PRAYER: Lord, thank You for the mantle of royalty on my life. I know who I am. I am in charge. I control things. And I take full possession of what belongs to me, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
