THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Your character can be a sermon God uses to win souls.

One of the binding forces or essential requirements in relationships is knowing what each party loves and making it available for each other. When you have a lover and you know his/her favourite food, you gain access to his or her heart easily. In the same manner, in our relationship with God, discovering what He loves and ensuring He has it makes Him delighted in us.

Today, we shall explore a major heartbeat of God, which is soul winning. Soul winning remains the heartbeat of God. Every believer is saved to save and rescue others. Soul winning is not only a command—it is a privilege. But beyond the desire to win souls, believers must understand how to win souls effectively.
Acts 1:8 makes it clear that the Holy Ghost empowers us to become witnesses. This means there are various Spirit-backed strategies for evangelism. Understanding them helps us reach and win more souls for Christ.

Below are the major means of soul winning every believer can deploy:

  1. Preaching Evangelism.
This is the most common and direct form of evangelism. It involves using your mouth to share the gospel—one-on-one, in groups, on the streets, or anywhere souls can be found. Jesus commanded us in Mark 16:15: ‘Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.’
Preaching evangelism involves speaking the Word, explaining redemption, and guiding people into conviction, repentance, and salvation.

  2. Power (or Miracle) Evangelism.
Power evangelism occurs when the supernatural Power of God is manifested during soul winning. It is the demonstration of God’s Power to address the needs and afflictions of people. Miracles, healings, prophetic encounters, and supernatural manifestations, sometimes, speak louder than words. John 4:48 emphasizes that signs can produce conviction, and Exodus 4:8 shows that miracles can make unbelievers listen.

  3. Presence Evangelism.
Presence evangelism occurs when a believer walks so closely with God that His presence flows through him or her. Without speaking, your very presence carries a convicting atmosphere that draws people to Christ.
Smith Wigglesworth once sat quietly in a train, and two strangers turned to him and said, “You convict us of sin.” They felt God’s Presence around him without a sermon.

  4. Character Evangelism.
This is evangelism by lifestyle. This is where your behaviour preaches louder than your words (Acts 4:13). Many unbelievers will read your life before they read the Scripture. Your character can be a sermon God uses to win souls.

Beloved, when was the last time your life quietly led someone to Christ? When last did your actions convict a sinner? Every believer must become a living epistle to be read by all men.

Remember this: Your character can be a sermon God uses to win souls.

ASSIGNMENT(S):
1. Identify and amend character deficiencies in you that could prevent people from coming to Jesus Christ.

  1. Ask God for grace to go outside and win souls for Him.

PRAYER: Lord, I receive fresh passion for soul winning. Empower me by Your Spirit to live right and demonstrate Your power for the conviction and salvation of souls, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
