FOUNDATIONS FOR EFFECTIVE PRAISE (1&2) By Dr Paul Enenche

MESSAGE TOPIC: FOUNDATIONS FOR EFFECTIVE PRAISE (1&2)

By: Dr Paul Enenche
SERVICE OBJECTIVE(S): Understanding needed factors for effective and productive praise
It is important for us to note that God created us for praise (Isa. 43:21; 1 Pet. 2:9)
We have the calling of praise, we are called to praise God in life, but for many people praise is a struggle
But many people live a life of struggle when it comes to praise because many are unaware of the factors that lead to effective praise

FACTORS THAT ARE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PRAISE:

1. Be grateful; be thankful (Ps. 100:4; Jer. 30:19; Ps. 150:6; Eccl. 9:4)
It is not possible to be grateful and not be praiseful
Thankfulness is the way of praisefulness and on the other hand thanklessness is the way to praiselessness
Anywhere there is thanksgiving there is praise-giving
Be grateful that you are alive and in health
‘Only great fools are not grateful’
It doesn’t matter what your position is in life, your current position is someone’s immediate expectation
The more thankful you are, the more reasons you will have to be thankful
2. Avoid comparison (2 Cor. 10:12; Job 23:10)
Comparing yourselves with others will deprive you of the free flow of praise
You may not understand the pathway you are passing through but God will turn it around
and take you to the end of your journey
God will never mismanage or waste your life; if you can trust Him with your life and destiny,
He won’t waste, mismanage or abuse it
Don’t focus on what you lack, focus on what you have and let that be your reason for being thankful
3. Possess Humility (1 Chron. 29:14; 2 Tim. 3:1-2)
Humility is a major foundation for praise
The humble are also the thankful
When you realise that you are nothing without God, you will thank Him for everything and praise Him.
Proud people are never thankful or praiseful
You cannot be pride-full and be thankful or praiseful (2 Tim. 3:1-2)
4. Be word-filled (Jer. 15:16; Ps. 119:162; 56:4,10)
The Word of God is a Tonic of joy; to be dry of Word is to be dry of joy (Jer. 15:16; Ps. 119:162)
Emptiness of Word equals dryness in praise
5. Be born again (Ps. 51:9-12; Rom. 14:17)
Joy is rooted in the Spirit
6. Be not forgetful (Ps. 103:1-5; Heb. 6:10)
Forgetfulness is a major attack on your praisefulness
7. Avoid the entitlement mentality (1 Chron. 29:14-15; Rom. 9:16; Acts 17:28)
There is nothing that you get either from God or man that is your right
God does not owe us anything but we owe everything to Him
Let us not take the sense of entitlement to God
The more thankful you are, the more reason you have to be thankful
8. Possess goodness or kindness of character (Ps. 92:1-2; 52:9; 54:6; 147:1)
When you don’t give people the honour that is their due, it is wickedness
It is goodness of character, kindness and generosity to be thankful for things done for you
The worst thing that can happen to you is to go to eternity before you are really ready to go
When you repeat actions, it becomes habit.
9. Be faith-filled (Ps. 106:12; Rom. 4:20; 1Pet. 1:8)
Strong faith gives glory to God even in the face of adversity
If you want to keep your praise alive, keep your faith alive and if you want to keep your faith alive, keep your intake of the Word alive
If your relationship with God is buoyant, your praise to God will flow

I BELIEVE GOD!

The absence of faith is the abundance of fear and doubt
10. Avoid sin (Prov. 14:34; 28:1; Ps. 51:9-12; 29:2; 96:9)
Sin is a confidence destroyer (Prov. 28:1)
Praise flows effortlessly in the beauty of holiness (Ps. 29:2; 96:9)
Praise flows effortlessly in the beauty of uprightness not the ugliness of iniquity
If you are generous with condemnation, you must also be generous with commendation

COUNSEL:

1. Make demands on the help of God to walk in the factors that facilitate praise (Heb. 4:16)
2. Step into the practical action of praise (Ps. 34:1)
PSALM 6:1-7 – When You praise God, God will ask the earth what it carries.
The real proof of Christianity is productivity
