TOPIC:MORE FACTS ON SELF-CONTROL

 

Those who have strong destinies have strong decision power.

SCRIPTURE: For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. Romans 7:18-20.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: When the flesh rules your life, the future is not guaranteed. 

Yesterday, we saw some facts on self-control. We saw that self-control is a product of mind control.

Today, we shall consider more facts on self-control.

1. If your flesh does not respect your will, there is nothing that will respect your life (Rom. 8:12, 13)

As a child of God, you may have made the decision not to sleep until a certain time of the night so you can be awake and pray, but you usually find yourself unable to do that because of the flesh. 

Beloved, the fact is that if your own life cannot respect your choices, there is nothing on earth that will respect you. 

2. It is the strength of your will that undergirds the strength of your destiny (Deut. 30:19)

Those who have strong destinies have strong decision power. 

Many years ago, when I was in courtship with my wife, we agreed with each other that the day immorality happened, the relationship would end. In other words, we have signed that the marriage would not happen if immoral relationship occurred. And by the mercy of God, that strength of will was respected. 

Anyone who is controlled by the flesh is under the spell of failure. When the flesh rules your life, the future is not guaranteed. 

Beloved, never allow your life to be subjected to the dictates of the flesh. 

Remember this: When the flesh rules your life, the future is not guaranteed. 

ASSIGNMENTS:

1. Refuse to be controlled by your flesh; rather, control your flesh.

2. Ask for the grace to do the right things consistently.

3. Ask for the help of the Holy Spirit to maintain a life of discipline and self-control.

PRAYER: O Lord, I receive the grace to discipline the flesh. Help me to do the right things that I want to do so I can fulfil Your Plan and Purpose for my life, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
