TOPIC:THE DANGER OF DEPRESSION

Everyone with a great destiny is usually confronted with the spell of depression.

SCRIPTURE: But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers. 1 Kings 19:4

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Everyone with a great destiny is usually confronted with the spell of depression. 

The spirit of depression has been confirmed to be a deadly enemy of destiny. Depression almost finished the life and ministry of Prophet Elijah. After commanding fire from heaven and killing the prophets of Baal, Jezebel threatened to kill him. Then, he became discouraged in God and requested to die (1 Kings 19:4).

Elijah requested to die because he was discouraged and depressed. 

Jezebel pursued him and he ran for his life. Recall that Elijah anointed Elisha. Elisha anointed Jehu. And Jehu killed Jezebel. Elijah gave Elisha the anointing he (Elijah) carried. Elisha poured on Jehu what he (Elisha) carried. And what was in Jehu went and killed Jezebel. 

The question is, where did the anointing that killed Jezebel originate from? It was from Elijah! So, the anointing that killed Jezebel originated from the same Elijah who was running away from her. Elijah was in essence running away from what he was anointed to slay. He was running away from what he was anointed to eliminate because of the spirit of depression. 

Beloved, everyone with a great destiny is usually confronted with the spell of depression. The enemy will come in one way or the other to discourage you about life because he knows that your future is massive. But that devil is already defeated in your life in Jesus’ Name.

Remember this: Everyone with a great destiny is usually confronted with the spell of depression. 

ASSIGNMENTS:

1. Reject every manifestation of the spirit of depression.

2. Refuse to be discouraged in God even if things seem not to be working temporarily.

3. Avoid and resist every thought of suicide no matter the circumstance.

PRAYER: Thank You Lord for Your Word to me today. I receive the grace to confront and conquer the spirit of depression, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
