TOPIC:THE PLACE OF DISCIPLINE AND SELF-CONTROL IN DESTINY FULFILMENT

 

If you cannot control what goes into your mind, you will never be able to control what flows through your life.

SCRIPTURE: Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright. Genesis 25:34. 

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: There is no destiny where discipline is lacking.

Destiny thrives in an atmosphere of discipline and self-control. That is why the lack of self-control is an enemy of destiny. A life without self-control is a life where everything goes. People who lack self-control have no power to do what they want to do. Indiscipline renders people useless. 

I will like you to take note of the following key thoughts on discipline and self- control:

1. There can be no destiny without discipline. 

Esau sold his birth right to his brother, Jacob for a morsel of meal because of indiscipline (Genesis 25:30-34). Esau had no discipline and so, had no destiny. There is no destiny where discipline is lacking.

2. If you cannot control yourself, you can never control your destiny (Heb. 12:16-17).

If you cannot control yourself, you cannot control your destiny also. If you cannot control yourself when it has to do with anger, the opposite sex, food, sleep, etc., you cannot control your destiny also. Until you can change yourself, there is nothing you can change. 

3. Self-control is a product of mind control.

If you cannot control what goes into your mind, you will never be able to control what flows through your life. And if you cannot control what flows through your life, you will never be able to control your destiny. Self-control is a product of mind control (Proverbs 4:23).

Make up your mind to live a lifestyle of self-control and discipline.

Remember this: There is no destiny where discipline is lacking.

ASSIGNMENTS:

1. Refuse for your destiny to be ruined because of pleasure like Esau (Genesis 25:30).

2. Make up your mind to live a life of self-control and discipline.

3. Bring your “flesh” under subjection and say “No” to your flesh.

PRAYER: Lord, thank You for showing me the place of discipline in fulfilling destiny. I receive the grace to bring my flesh under my control, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
