TOPIC: THE NECESSITY OF THE WORD
SCRIPTURE: That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word. Ephesians 5:26.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The Word of God is as necessary to a person the way clean water is to a thirsty man or a dirty body.
The importance of the Word of God in the life of the child of God can never be over-emphasized.
As a pilot cannot do without the radar or fly without the control tower, so is a Christian without the Word of God. As a surgeon is helpless without his hands which he uses for surgery, so is the child of God even more helpless without the Word of God.
Job saw that the Word of God as something better than his necessary food. So, he esteemed the Word from the mouth of God more than his necessary food (Job 23:12).
Ephesians 5:26 says,
That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word.
The Word of God is as necessary to a person the way clean water is to a thirsty man or a dirty body. If the Word of God is likened to water, it means that as it is impossible for a man to survive without water, so also is it impossible for anyone to survive without the Word of God.
